Blue Bomber’s in the Hood(ie) Again
Wow, deja vu.
Way back in 2010, we shared a bit of concept art shown off on Capcom Unity for a Mega Man hoodie, made in the hopes that someday it might become a real product. Over two years later, Japanese clothing brand Punk Drunkers put their own spin on it.
Thanks to a tip from Michael S, we’ve now learned that the dream has become a reality thanks to ThinkGeek. Theirs hews far closer to Brendan’s design, though I don’t know if there is any affiliation between the two. That said, ThinkGeek’s has changed things up slightly, particularly in the hood itself, which now sports puffy ear pieces and crests that were flat on the original. The ThinkGeek version even has the Mega Buster left sleeve with a red cuff lining.
ThinkGeek’s product description is as follows:
Write your own next game
Sure, we’re happy to get legacy games on our shiny new consoles, but we’re not so good with the patience while we await an entirely new Mega Man game.
So we decided to let you create your own. Don this hoodie and you can star as Mega Man in your own adventure. (This works especially well if, like us, you feel like you’re constantly running.) Create titles for your most popular sequels, such as:
-
Mega Man Takes Out the Trash
-
Mega Man Goes Grocery Shopping
-
Mega Man Gets Frustrated at the DMV and Blasts Everyone with a Faux Mega Blaster and Then Gets Escorted Out
That’s right. The Mega Blaster is printed on the hoodie’s arm, and Mega Man’s helmet details are sewn into the hood, including 3D bits. The zipper’s a tiny vinyl E-Tank, and the hood’s lined with little 8-bit icons. The little details are great – the ribbing on the inside of the Mega Blaster arm is red.
