Demo to Make Up for Mighty No. 9’s Delay Now Delayed
In case you need to be quickly caught up on the story: the long-awaited Kickstarted flagship title for Comcept, Mighty No. 9, was supposed to be out in Spring this year, it was instead delayed to add more polish and numerous features as part of a retail publishing deal with Deep Silver. Following rumors of a delay which emerged during the ill-fated Kickstarter for a second game, Red Ash, Comcept confirmed that we wouldn’t see Beck’s big adventure until 2016. To make it up to those who backed the project on Kickstarter, the original release date would instead be when those people would experience an exclusive demo.
Only now, the demo has been delayed as well. Subtly attached to the end of a blog post about a new robot design contest, Comcept stated the following:
Finally, we know that all of our fans are looking forward to the Special Demo Version we are preparing, and we just ask that you be a little more patient. The team is working on it, but some issues popped up regarding the distribution method so there is a good chance it will not be ready to launch by the 15th. We are really sorry for the inconvenience.
As soon as we have more info, we will let everyone know immediately.
So far, judging by comments here and there, no one really seems to be all that surprised. The most common jokes going around seem to be about an apology demo being released for the delay of the apology demo, which will also be delayed… and so forth.
Interestingly enough, it seems that some people managed to get the demo as early as the 11th, as evidenced by the following video from The Outerhaven Productions. Spoiler warnings probably apply:
They note in the description that “my PC updated to the Special Demo. So I did what anyone else would do, I fired up for a quick run through.”
