Mighty No. 9: New Trailer, Cross-Buy, Pre-Order, and Signature Edition

Some big news about Mighty No. 9‘s upcoming September 15th release has hit today, courtesy of Sony’s PlayStation.Blog.

First up is a new trailer for the game, which seems to have refined the look just a bit since we saw the beta:

In terms of actual new information, Senior Global Brand Manager for Deep Silver, Pete Brolly, happily informs loyal PlayStation supporters that the game will indeed support Cross-Buy. This means that when you purchase either the digital or retail versions of the game for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, or PlayStation Vita, you’ll get the other versions as well!

Those looking at the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS versions, try not to fret too much just yet — keep in mind that this is all coming through the PlayStation.Blog, so they only talk about PlayStation there (they even have their own exclusively-branded PlayStation trailers for multiplatform titles). Though it’s still rarer across Nintendo’s platforms, a similar option can’t be ruled out just yet.

Speaking of retail, there are two versions of the game that will be available to purchase at launch.

First up is the regular retail edition, seen above. As discussed with the announcement of this edition, it includes the Ray downloadable content featuring the Abandoned Lab stage, the boss fight against Ray, and then the ability to play as Ray herself. What’s more, this version also comes with a cool double-sided poster and a booklet titled “The Art of Mighty No. 9,” which features art and concept art from Comcept and Inti Creates.

Then there is the Signature Edition, which is exclusive to North America. Described as an “extremely limited Collector’s Edition,” it features the Launch Edition of the PlayStation 4 game with a metallic foil signature from Keiji Inafune across the front. Perhaps the greater highlight of this version is the inclusion of the figure seen above, which stands 6.5″ tall with 14 points of articulation and three interchangeable faceplates.

The price for this version? $59.99 USD.

Finally, if you pre-order the game, you’ll also receive the following:

The “Retro Hero” DLC features a mode in which Beck dons this retro-ish Minecraft-styled attire, complete with 8-bit sound effects. It also has a “rock hard” insta-death mode, where any one hit kills you instantly.

While the retro skin for Beck is pre-order exclusive, Brolly notes that the insta-death mode is not; the core game will also include a “slightly different” version of the mode, but that’s obtained by completing an as-yet unspecified task.

To reiterate, this all comes from the PlayStation.Blog, so it’s only currently confirmed for PlayStation platforms, but doesn’t rule out any other versions of the game. I’m going to try to find out more information about if any of this will be available for other platforms and will update accordingly.

Thanks to Thor Thorvaldson for the tip!
