“Live. Laugh. Drink.”

Aliases: Kade Wilson, “The Pirate Strangler,” “Feeny” (by Nytetrayn)

Occupation: Digger

Height: 6′ / 182.88cm

Eyes: Mechanical red

Hair: Black fringes around his scalp

Age: 27

History: Illegitimate son of the Air Pirate Trevor Creed, Kade was raised by his mother Maria in a small town on an island in the middle of nowhere. Violently antisocial and picked on by other children, he kept getting back up, eventually earning himself the nickname “Fenix,” which he wore from then on with a sense of pride.

Eventually, he left his home to pursue not only a career in Digging, but also his own father. To call their relationship “complex” would be an understatement, as Fenix grew up hating the man, yet can’t help but want him to come around and actually be a dad to him. Suffice to say, encounters which have left Fenix down one arm and two eyes (among other injuries) have done little to further that cause.

After repairing the damage done by utilizing cybernetic parts, Fenix was down to his last zenny when he found himself on Oxford Island. There, he was investigating a local ruin when he came upon an unusual young man who was fighting off Reaverbots — with no proper weapons or armor to speak of. He lent a hand, and as the two worked their way through the ruin, a bond began to form, despite neither one knowing about the other’s past, nor being too inclined to ask.

Once they struck pay dirt, the duo cashed out, invested in some better gear (and in Fenix’s case, an improved mechanical arm with a proper hand), and set off together for an island called Monroe. There, they established a base of operations in an overpriced apartment that would allow them to explore the ruins which dotted the island with relative ease as they tried to save up for an airship that would allow them to travel as they pleased. This led them to one ruin where they would discover an Ancient named Janine who would join them on their journeys, and during a brief but begrudging alliance with an Air Pirate named Xenos Geist, he would lead them all to another ruin that proved to be a most nightmarish experience.

After meeting a group of others, including a young woman with no memory they called Celeste, and a fellow Digger and airship enthusiast named Adam Powers, Fenix’s father would once again enter his life, now becoming everyone’s problem — including, and perhaps especially — Nytetrayn and Celeste’s. Fenix left after the reunion to try to hunt down his father again, hoping to put an end to his reign of terror, but Creed played off of his insecurities and vulnerability to drinking to get information out of him and plan an ambush that almost saw Nytetrayn killed.

Fenix has since rejoined the group, and along with MegaMan Magnus and Black Steel, voyaged to Avion — a world with the last remnants of the beyond ancient civilization that created Nytetrayn.

Personality: Sarcastic, chaotic, playful, erratic, and generally a good guy deep down. Not the most social guy you’re likely to meet initially, but he’s opened up a bit since making friends with Nytetrayn and the others. Even so, he prefers to let Nytetrayn do the talking in more public-facing situations like negotiations, while he just sits back and looks intimidating (though Nytetrayn will oftentimes have him take point on certain matters in exchange to “keep things fair”). That aside, the two are constantly trading barbs and quips back and forth.

Fenix has a particular affinity for “oldschool” weaponry, primarily those which utilize physical ordnance, but anything that can provide a big enough boom can make him smile.

He also has a tendency to concoct schemes that, while potentially lucrative, tend to be risky.

Likes: Money, vintage firearms, beer, women, and the fine art of professional wrestling.

Dislikes: Spoiled beer, kangaroos, Air Pirates in general and his father in particular, and Nytetrayn making him do the dirty work.

Shticks: Almost never removes his helmet. Publicly, at least.

Abilities: The visor in Fenix’s helmet possesses an array of sophisticated sensory equipment, including a targeting system, infrared, and radar. His mechanical left arm possesses greater strength than his right, which is already formidable by organic standards. He is fairly quick for his size, and his boots are equipped to enhance his jumping ability. Skilled at both long and close-ranged combat, as well as weapon maintenance, and has some knowledge of computer programming.

Weaknesses: His penchant for oldschool weaponry can limit the ammunition he has on hand. His beam sabers compensate for this somewhat, though he has to get up close to use them. He tends to favor raw power over skill, which has been known to backfire. He can’t hold his liquor past a certain point, which can lead him to blab on about things he shouldn’t. He can also be too trusting of the wrong people, i.e. his father, which has cost him on more than one occasion. At the same time, his hatred for his father tends to lead him to rush him on sight in a mad rage, which rarely ends well for him.

Weapons/Attacks: Fenix’s mechanical left arm contains a Gatling Gun-styled mechanism that can fire various types of solid rounds, and he carries a pair of beam sabers on his back. He also possesses a wide variety of other weapons, though which ones he has on him can vary at any given time. These include a concussion blaster, rocket launcher, grenade launcher, shotgun, pistols, rifles, and a plasma caster.
