No Mega Man #55 This Week? (Update x2)
As it’s early on Wednesday, it goes without saying that Tuesday’s update has come a little bit later than usual.
For about the last week, I knew that I was going to be running one of two stories yesterday. If everything went well, then I would be delivering to you the preview pages for the 55th and final issue of Archie’s Mega Man comic, “Everlasting Peace,” before it went on its indefinite hiatus. If all did not go well, I would be writing this instead.
You may recall that the issue was originally to be available on November 18th; however, about a week prior, Archie Comics took to their Twitter to reveal that the release would be pushed back to December 2nd and promising that it would be worth the wait. One can hope, as we may need to wait longer.
One week ago today, “Dr. Wily” contacted me with the latest look at the “New Releases” page from PREVIEWSworld, the website of comic book distributor Diamond. Absent from the list? Mega Man #55. Or any Archie title that was solicited for 12/2, for that matter, save for but one of the Double Digests featuring the company’s flagship character.
“Now,” says Wily, “sometimes things appear on the shipping list that don’t actually ship; sometimes things that don’t show up on the shipping list do ship. So, we won’t know for sure until next Wednesday.”
Archie Comics’ Twitter has said nothing on the matter, either. Comixology, however, has the issue accepting pre-orders with a 12/9 release date.
At this point, I just wanted to let anyone who might have to go out of their way to get the book know ahead of time so that they can plan accordingly before going out on Wednesday. In the meantime, I’ve reached out to Archie to see if I can get an official comment on the matter.
Update: I’ve received the e-mail that contains the preview images and solicitations distributed by Archie, and the new issue of Mega Man is not among them.
Update 2: Archie’s Twitter has begun responding to inquiries with the statement “we’ll keep you posted on the new release date here. Thanks!”
