Mega Man Now Available on Nintendo 3DS eShop in North America

Christmas is over, but 2012 isn’t through yet, and Nintendo wants to make you cry before the year is out. They want you to cry so good… or do they?
As promised, today’s Nintendo 3DS eShop update has brought with it the Virtual Console release of the NES version of Mega Man, which is considered one of the toughest in the series. However, the difficulty may very well be mitigated by the Nintendo 3DS’s features for such releases– specifically, the save states you can record at any time, which not only compensates for the lack of a password system in the original game, but also allows you to keep retrying that Yellow Devil battle until you get it right.

It’s joined by the Japanese Famicom Disk System version of Super Mario Bros. 2, better known to some as The Lost Levels (though this one is a bit tougher in some regards than the version played on Super Mario All-Stars), and shares the same game-saving features. Each game can be had for $4.99.

So there you have it: Two of the most challenging games from the NES library, released at the same time with a feature which now grants mercy where there was none before. That just leaves the question: Are you buying? And if so, will you use this new feature to help see you through the day?
