Nadia & David’s Mega Man Mayhem – Mega Man: The Power Battles and Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters (Part 1)

After finishing Mega Man 7, the next obvious choice on our semi-chronological tour of the Mega Man series was to play the arcade games, Mega Man: The Power Battle and Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters.

Longtime viewers of the sister series to “Mega Man Mayhem,” “Nadia & David Ruin Video Games,” might remember that we dipped our toes into these two titles among many others when we checked out Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium when it came out a couple of years ago. Well, this time, we wanted to do a thorough job. We wanted to do it right for this one. That means every route. Every character’s ending, including all the team endings.

Could we pull it off?

If the “Part 1” in the title wasn’t enough of a tip-off, the answer is “no.” We did finish The Power Battle, but while not necessarily more difficult, The Power Fighters is nevertheless taking us longer. So we’re hoping to do it in two, with a follow-up in a couple of weeks picking up where we left off. With any luck, that should do the trick!

Oh, and if you’re wondering why we’re doing The Power Fighters before Mega Man 8, even though it takes place after? Well, it was released first and teased the upcoming game, so we figured that worked to our advantage here. And also because I goofed, but hey, it kinda works out.

Following that, if all goes well, “Nadia & David Ruin Video Games” is checking out Donkey Kong Bananza the weekend after it lands.

As always, you can follow The Mega Man Network on Bluesky and Twitter, and we usually announce what we’re doing it about a day out.

“Nadia & David’s Mega Man Mayhem” is a 90-minute stream we’ll be doing about once a month, where the plan is to play through every Mega Man game we can in (mostly) chronological order, according to the timeline. We started with the first Mega Man, and after we finished that, started Mega Man 2, and so on. Next time, we’ll pick up where we left off, and go on like so.

Once Classic is done, we’ll move on to Mega Man X, then Mega Man Zero, and so on. (And with any luck, there will be a “Mega Man Legends Legacy Collection” or something by the time we get to that, but if not, we have a contingency or two in mind.)

And of course, we love interacting with the chat during these streams, so if you’ve got questions about the Mega Man Field Guides from UDON, Legends of the Halcyon Era, poutine recipes, or just want to chat and share the love of Mega Man, drop on in! We’d love to have you!

Keep an eye on our Twitter (or just the Twitter sidebar here) to find out when we’re streaming next! We usually announce it a day or so ahead of time.

And if you’d like to support our streaming habits, please be sure to consider donating to our Ko-fi or Patreon!
