TMMN-TV: Mega Man Legends 2 – All Special Weapons vs. Bola
Picking a favorite Mega Man Legends game is really hard. Each has their strengths and their weaknesses, their ups and their downs.
On the whole, I like Mega Man Legends more than Mega Man Legends 2 — and yeah, that cliffhanger ending is a part of it, don’t get me wrong. For those who don’t know, just imagine if the original Star Wars trilogy left you hanging for 25 years off of The Empire Strikes Back. Yeah, that’s often regarded as the best of the trilogy, but did anyone really want it to end there?
But I digress. While Mega Man Legends is probably the one I would pick if forced to choose, make no mistake: There are a lot of things that Mega Man Legends 2 does that are just flat-out better. And I think one of those is the cast of characters. Certainly, the Kattelox Mayor and the police inspector and the museum curator and more all have their charms and I love seeing them, but when it comes to main characters, it basically comes down to the crews of the Flutter and the Gesellschaft.
Mega Man Legends 2, though? It casts a much wider net with its ensemble of characters, and while they may not all have “main character energy,” many of them still possess strong “favorite” or “I love that” character energy.
And one of my favorites? The masked Air Pirate known as Bola, who Random O’Panda is taking on today:
Bola definitely has a sort of energy I can vibe with, I will tell you that. And even though he seems like he’s pretty much ready to be done with this whole gig, I hope that — beyond just wanting more Mega Man Legends, I mean — this game isn’t the last we see of him or his brother-in-law, Klaymoor.
Heck, maybe there’s a timeline out there where the two (in their slightly-younger days, perhaps?) even got to star in their own game. Ah, to slide into that world…
Stay tuned, because we’ve got more bosses getting obliterated by the Volnutt arsenal coming your way!
