TMMN-TV Playlist: Mega Man Games Done Quick
Here’s something a little different for you this week.
One thing I’ve been happy to try to spread some awareness of over the years is Games Done Quick, a group who organize events throughout the year featuring speedrunners plying their craft across various video games both good and bad, in a series of charity marathons to raise money for Prevent Cancer Foundation and Doctors Without Borders USA.
Over their ten-year history, they’ve featured quite a few Mega Man titles, and for your viewing convenience, I’ve gathered them all into a single playlist here for you to enjoy (sorted from newest to oldest), which I hope to keep updated as new runs are featured in new events.
They’ve done a little bit of everything over the years, from the Classic series through the ZX series, and even have a video featuring Mega Man Star Force 2, which seems to be underrepresented there (perhaps you could help fill that gap?). Official games, hacks, fan games — if they’ve played it, I’ve included it. There’s even one in there that’s some sort of Mario game that features the Mecha Dragon from Mega Man 2! I think I managed to get everything, but if you notice that I’ve missed something, feel free to let me know, and I’ll add it to the list!
I’m hoping to do more with our YouTube channel, “TheMegaManNetwork” (I’m a little worried that adding spaces might see it get lost among all the Mega Man Battle Network videos), and this is just one step towards that. Another step is creating a sister list for “Mega Man-esque Games Done Quick,” but I’m not sure just which games to add. Some are obvious, like Mighty No. 9, Azure Strike Gunvolt, and of course, Mighty Gunvolt Burst. Blaster Master Zero‘s ties to Gunvolt make it a strong candidate, and I always felt Capcom’s Darkwing Duck feels right at home, but what else? Battle Kid? Shovel Knight? Something else I’m not even thinking of? Let me know, and I can look into it!
