Copen Dashes into Action Again in Blaster Master Zero 2 DLC

Here’s something that I missed a couple of weeks ago: as of November 29th, Blaster Master Zero 2, the sequel to Inti Creates’ reimagining of the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) classic, is now available for purchase on Steam for $9.99 USD/€9.99/£8.99! (As of this writing, it’s even 10 percent off.)

That’s not all, however. Fans of the original might remember that Inti crammed it chock full of additional characters, from Gunvolt to Shovel Knight to Shantae, and it looks like they’re aiming to make it a tradition in the sequel, starting with Copen and Lola from Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX:

While the downloadable content is priced at $1.99 USD, there’s a special “crossover event” promotion going on until December 12th (or 13th, according to the press release) which allows you get it for free. So if you’ve already got the game, then you should probably get on that sooner than later.

From the press release:

To celebrate the release of the Steam version of Blaster Master Zero 2, Inti Creates is also releasing a brand new playable DLC character for the game! Copen, the anti-hero of Inti’s flagship Azure Striker Gunvolt series and main protagonist of their most recent title, Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX, sets off on an intergalactic adventrure in his Blaster Master Zero 2 debut. The Copen character DLC will be available for both Nintendo Switch and Steam on November 29, 2019, the same day as the release of the Steam version.

Copen brings his lightning-fast, high-flying brand of gameplay you know from his native titles like Luminous Avenger iX straight into the mutant blasting world of BMZ2. “He has everything from his trusty partner Lola, to the special weapons and core gameplay elemtns you are already familiar with if you played one of his games,” says Matt Papa, producer at Inti Creates. “The entire BMZ2 development team did an unbelievable job taking all of his core elements and transporting them so seamlessly into Blaster Master Zero 2 that would never guess they were originally from another game if you didn’t know any better.”
