Capcom Announces Grand Opening of the Capcom Store

“But I thought Capcom already had a store? One that was open?”

Indeed, though by the look of things, this seems to be more of a relaunch. Or the launch of a new website, take your pick. Whatever the case, you can check it out now by visiting store.capcom.com, where you’ll find a ton of items up for pre-order, though none of those are related to Mega Man.

That isn’t to say they have no Mega Man product for sale, however! Under the Mega Man tab, they have eight items for sale, but all of them are games. Four versions of Mega Man 11 (one for each platform, with Switch being on a waiting list), while the other for are Mega Man Legacy Collection, Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, Mega Man X Legacy Collection, and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 — all for Steam.

That said, each purchase made earns you a number of points that can go towards membership rewards, which include (among other non-Mega Man items) the Rockman 9 original soundtrack for 100 points, Mega Man Powered Up car pillows for 30 points, and Mega Man limited edition headphones (in blue or grey) for 150 points.

So, why buy games from their store? According to their FAQ, “By purchasing on our online store, you benefit from the exclusive access to Capcom pre-orders and to limited collector editions. Our online store offers exclusive limited offers you may only find on this site. Most importantly, by registering for the Online Store, you have a chance to take part in our Capcom Membership Rewards Program for which you can earn points and earn the reward of your choice!” There doesn’t seem to be anything of the sort for Mega Man at the moment, but it’s something to keep an eye on with further releases.

Unfortunately, unlike previous iterations of the store, it seems that this one is by the U.S., and for the U.S. only. Guess me and every other Capcom fan in Canada are pretty well screwed.
