Now You Can Smash Dr. Wily in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
After all the shenanigans Dr. Wily has pulled over the years, have you ever wanted to just punch him in the face?
Well, you’ll soon get your chance!
The latest (and final) “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct” from Nintendo had director Masahiro Sakurai introduce two new fighters in Street Fighter’s Ken Master’s and Pokémon’s Incineroar, along with sharing a number of other details about the game. And among those details is the inclusion of new Assist Trophies.
Like son, like father — just as Zero was previously revealed to be an Assist Trophy in the Nintendo Switch outing, so too is Dr. Wily, who is in control of his most evil creation to date: The Wily Capsule from Mega Man 7.
Fortunately, this one doesn’t seem quite as difficult to take down, leaving Wily begging for mercy before disappearing from the field of battle.
Wily isn’t the only new Mega Man character inclusion, however.
In lieu of Trophies to collect this time, there are instead “Spirits” of characters from across the many gathered franchises. Collect these, and they’ll lend their power to your character in different ways.
There doesn’t seem to be a complete list, but among those spotted so far are Skull Man, Cut Man, Gravity Man, Guts Man, Sigma, Napalm Man, and more.
So, is that it for Mega Man characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? Not necessarily; while everyone who will be included in the game at launch has now been revealed, Sakurai announced that they will be expanding the roster even further with all-new characters — i.e. not Echo Fighters.
There seem to only be five slots for these downloadable additions (each of which includes a fighter, a stage, and music), and none of them have been announced yet, so let the speculation commence!
