iX is Finally Coming to the West in Mega Man X: Mega Mission
I don’t know how much this is going to mean to some of the younger fans among you, but back in the 90’s, there was a whole lot less Mega Man to go around, so we leaped upon anything we could get our hands on. One such thing was a story exclusive to Japan, told by way of a Carddass trading card series and a one-shot manga that was a part of Hitoshi Ariga’s Rockman Remix called Rockman X Mega Mission.
One particularly standout element of this story was the character of “X” (pronounced “iX”, and often spelled as such to differentiate him from our blue hero), an evil clone of X created by Dr. Doppler. The character was popular enough to return in one of the sequels and even get his own Mega Armor model kit from Bandai.
However, iX and the Mega Mission stories never made it into the games (which is a shame, as the concept would have lent itself perfectly to side-stories similar to all the Game Boy titles) or overseas in any way.
Until now.
Details are sparse at the moment, though I expect more will come at any moment, but at their San Diego Comic-Con panel, UDON Entertainment announced that this 23-year old part of Mega Man X history will finally be made available officially in a localized, full-color form as Mega Man X: Mega Mission this January. As Deb Aoki on Twitter tweeted from the show:

In addition, Mega Man Mastermix #4 will be available in stores this October.
So, what do you think? Are you excited to finally be able to add this long out-of-print tale to your collection, in full color and with English dialogue, no less? Or are you learning about this whole shebang for the first time with this article? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
