New X Challenge Trailer for Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 + 2

We’re just under a month away from the July 24th release of Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 + 2 for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Steam, so to get you in the mood for hunting some Mavericks with a bit more of a challenge than usual, Capcom has released the following trailer for the games’ new “X Challenge” mode:

As you can see, there will be various team-ups between Mavericks with common themes or relations, and in an odd case or two, contrasting themes as well. Seems they’re using the localized-but-not-that-localized names for the Mega Man X5 crew as well, though it’s anyone’s guess if that makes it to this version of Mega Man X5 itself.

What’s more, while I haven’t gone over this frame by frame, one might notice that while the new armor X is sporting certainly resembles the Ultimate Armor, its key feature — the Nova Strike — isn’t shown (or shown much, if I did miss something) in action. But then, it probably wouldn’t be much of a “challenge” if X just plowed through everything, leaving nothing but death and destruction in his wake…

…right?

Okay, it might not be challenging, but it sure sounds like fun. Hopefully the full power of the Ultimate Armor can be unleashed as an unlockable for completing the mode, maybe?
