Inti Creates Lets Copen Fly Solo in Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX
Fans of the Azure Striker Gunvolt series were first introduced to Copen as an antagonistic rival in the original game to bear the name, and in its sequel (as well as the Mighty Gunvolt Burst spin-off), were able to take control of the Adept Slayer for themselves. But now, Copen is embarking on a new mission — one that seems to bear no sign of his azure-garbed counterpart.
Further details are currently few and far between, but Inti Creates has announced at a panel during the indie game show Bitsummit Volume 6 that Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX will be coming to the Nintendo Switch at some point in the future. Further announcements are expected to be made regarding Copen’s solo (well, so to speak — Lola and others are clearly along for the ride) sometime this summer.
From the press release:
Luminous Avenger iX is a new title in the universe of the Gunvolt series, which began with 2014’s Nintendo 3DS eShop title “Azure Striker Gunvolt,” which was followed by 2016’s “Azure Striker Gunvolt 2.”
This new title sees Gunvolt series anti-hero “Copen” take the starring role. The Inti Creates team is hard at work on this project centering around this popular character from the Gunvolt universe, and more details are to be announced this summer, so look forward to hearing more info soon!
In the meantime, here’s the announcement trailer and a pair of screens:
In Azure Striker Gunvolt 2, Copen brought a very different style of gameplay than his rival to the mix, wherein he would perform a dash attack that tagged enemies before letting loose with a barrage of homing shots.
In addition, Inti Creates also announced that they are bringing Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, an 8-bit styled 2D action game fashioned after the Castlevania titles of the Nintendo Entertainment System era. More information was presented about that title, coming to every major platform (including the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita) on May 24th.
Since this is a Mega Man (and Mega Man-esque) site, I won’t bother with all the details here, but I will leave you with the trailer Inti Creates has posted:
