Capcom Continues to Rock Out for Rockman’s 30th Anniversary

The Mega Man franchise — and the Rockman side in particular — has always had a rather strong theme of music running through it. As such, it only makes sense that Capcom would celebrate three decades of the Blue Bomber with lots and lots of tunes.

For starters, the big announcement from Rockman Unity is that of “Rockman 30th Anniversary Live,” a concert that will take place on July 8th at 12:30pm and 5:30pm JST at the Nakano ZERO venue in Tokyo, featuring music from every one of the Rockman series we’ve come to know and love throughout the past 30 years.

According to Siliconera, Noriyuki Iwadare is in charge of the music arrangement. You might recognize his work from Mega Man X7, but he has also had a hand in the tunes from Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Trials and Tribulations, Dual Destinies, Spirit of Justice, and the Ace Attorney Investigations series. Performing the music will be none other than the Mega Man 30th Anniversary Special Band put together just for this occasion.

There will also be a special panel where new information and announcements are expected, along with the limited event-exclusive merchandise and goodies you might expect from an event like this.

If by chance you’re interested in going, tickets are going for ¥7,500 (approximately $68.78 USD), and further ticket information can be obtained here. If not, at least we have this cool picture of Mega Man’s new design with a Rush Guitar, so it’s not a total loss.

Via Vhyper1985, something that should be a little easier to listen to is the newly-announced soundtrack to Rockman X Anniversary Collection.

According to its page on Sony Music Shop, it should be released just ahead of the games on July 17th at a price of ¥2,700 (or approximately $24.76 USD, as of this writing), and will include 27 new tracks created for the collections, as well as a bonus track (with this one presumably being among them).

The tracks will consist of new works and arrangements of past popular songs composed by Kitagawa Yasumasa (of “We Are Rock-Men” fame), and the disc jacket (seen above) was rendered by Keisuke Mizuno. In addition, there is a special limited edition version with a unique sleeve being prepared.

If the Sony Music Shop link above is no good for you, the soundtrack will also be available through e-Capcom.

Finally, also via Vhyper1985, we have this Famitsu reveal of the cover for the Ryuusei no Rockman Sound Box. The three-disc set will be available on July 4th, and the series’ official illustrator, Nakajima Akiko, is continuing their work both on the cover and inside the booklet, where black and white illustrations of characters who didn’t make the cover will await.
