Mega Maker Completed; Get Your Dream Levels Ready
First, a quick update for those wondering where all the new posts went: I did something to my ribs about a week ago Sunday, and pain has been touch and go for a while. I just got some medication a couple of days ago that have helped tremendously, so I actually feel like writing again (lucky for me I had a few stories in queue when it happened).
Anyway, this would of course happen when some big news was ready to drop. Not from Capcom, but a fan project that apparently — going by my Inbox — has everyone talking.
Much discussion has surrounded the prospect of a Mega Man game which follows in the footsteps of Nintendo’s somewhat-recent release of Super Mario Maker, a game where you could create your own Mario levels — or remake Mega Man levels and run an amiibo-Megafied Mario through them. Prior to that, Capcom stood poised to beat Nintendo to the punch before they cancelled Mega Man Universe, and over a decade ago, we got a taste in Mega Man Powered Up for the PlayStation Portable.
But now, in just over two days and seven and a half hours (as of this writing), a team of fans led by WreckingPrograms is going to bring the dream to life on your PC with their “Mega Maker”:
From the official website:
Jump, shoot, create! Mega Maker is a fan game all about creating your own Mega Man levels and sharing them with the world! Alternatively, play one of many levels created by other users, from full-length Robot Master stages to unique puzzle levels. There’s content for everyone to enjoy, all for the low price of nothing!
The version that will be launched on July 15th will include assets from the first six Mega Man games on the Nintendo Entertainment System, but there will also be new assets from Mega Man 7 and on (good, Turbo Man and Nitro Man shouldn’t miss out!), as well as entirely new features, such as those two new weapons we saw in the trailer.
For more information, and to download the game when the time comes, be sure to visit the official home page.
Thanks to everyone (and I do mean everyone) who sent in a tip about this, and hopefully next time I won’t take so long to get around to it!
