Ripot’s Round-Up – 6/28/17

Things have been a bit hectic lately, so as a means of clearing my head as well as my inbox, here’s the latest round-up of reports from Ripot!

Sadly, no one has offered up any fan art for the round-up, so I’m making do with what official art I can find for now, such as this shot from the ending to Mega Man Battle & Chase.

First up, I received a tip from WordMageEric that got lost in Twitter (this is why I urge you to use the form or e-mail!) about a fan game which takes the “endless” concept from Mega Man 9 and uses graphics from Mega Man: The Wily Wars called, fittingly enough, “Mega Man Endless.” Have a look at this video from Blyka:

I must say, I love seeing the Wily Wars assets being put to good use here.

For more information on the game, including how to download it, check out this link.

“Wait, I thought this was Sonic 2?” Keep watching…

If you enjoyed that, there’s more where it came from.

When the subject of fan games comes up around here, one that gets mention (yet I’ve never really gotten any tips or anything on that I can find) is one called “Mega Man: Super Fighting Robot.” Here’s the trailer, if you’re not familiar with it:

Well, with a name like that, you can’t really be disappointed by the choice of music.

In addition to MrWeirdGuy’s YouTube channel, you can find out more on the official Facebook page.

A little over a month ago, we learned that Super7’s Mega Man M.U.S.C.L.E. figures had been released. But some of you may not be familiar with M.U.S.C.L.E., so here’s an NES Works video from Jeremy Parish which gives background on the long-running toy franchise, as well as gives us a look at its part in the early days of the Nintendo Entertainment System’s library:

Next, MegaTuga passes along this video from Mashed which depicts the “true” story of Mega Man in a different yet somehow familiar light:

ScrewAttack has posted a new (maybe slightly Not Safe For Work?) list of their Top 10 maids from across all walks of media. Guess who made the list? No points for guessing, though, but you can have a cookie if you can guess where she lands.

This is a minor thing, but Jewced writes to share some Mega Man references found in the background of the indie game Elliot Quest:

On the left, you can see a neat reproduction of a portion of Wood Man’s stage from Mega Man 2. On the right, might that be a silhouette of the Flutter from Mega Man Legends? Maybe!

Via Retroware TV, Noah’s Game Room of the Bucket Head Aficionado YouTube channel provides a really quick look at why “Mega Man 5 Ain’t Half Bad.”

—–

Over at Cinemassacre, Mike Matei recently named his Top 20 favorite NES games, and of course there’s a title from the Blue Bomber’s legacy in there somewhere.

I haven’t had time to rewatch it through, but I think it’s safe for work — any vulgarity is nowhere near Nerd levels, at the very least.

Finally, you might remember a year ago when UltimateMaverickX had the original Mega Man take on 80 Robot Masters in 50 seconds. If you heeded my hint, then you might have also seen the alternate version where X and Zero took on the same task.

A year or so later, a second non-secret version of the latter scenario has been released, with some changes to how the Maverick Hunters go about the business of wiping out most of their family trees:

Ah, that’s better! Now that I’ve got these out here, I should be able to focus more on some of the other stuff lingering in the coming days. With any luck, I might even be able to queue a few up for a solid run of stories! Until then, I hope you’ve enjoyed these tidbits.
