Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is One of Five Reasons to Own a Wii
Okay, it’s been a little longer than I typically like between updates here. Throw in a bunch of non-Mega Man articles which I’ve needed to write (and am still writing) and a whole ton of other crud I’ve had to deal with the past couple of days, and I’m just glad I can get anything at all up here. At least I’ve got something planned for tomorrow, so rest assured, I’ve not forgotten you guys.
On top of all that, I found in my Inbox something I thought I’d posted about, but apparently not? This one’s from a few months ago, so consider this a conscience-cleanser.
Roger the Retrogaming Puppet and On the Stick are here once again to provide you five reasons to own a console that you won’t find anywhere else. This time around, it’s the Wii, and as Roger points out, he likes to start these things off with Mega Man.
Of course, there is no shortage of Mega Man on the Wii — the entire Nintendo Entertainment System library (barring Rockboard), the entire Super NES catalog (barring Soccer), and even both Mega Man 9 and 10 and their respective downloadable content. Of course, thanks in large part to most of those being Virtual Console games and many of them being featured in various collections, they’re hardly unique to the system.
So what’s left? Just one little gem called Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars. While the other platforms were getting their Capcom fights on with the likes of Street Fighter IV on literally everything but the Wii (including the iPhone and Nintendo 3DS) and Marvel vs. Capcom 3‘s various iterations, the Wii played host to this unique crossover battler which showed a nice bit of love to not just Mega Man Classic (via Roll) and Mega Man X (via Zero), but Mega Man Legends in particular with MegaMan Volnutt’s sole appearance as a playable character in a fighting game (and two Gesellschaft stages filled with Servbots to boot).
With Capcom making good with Marvel again, though, one has to wonder what — if anything — the future holds for this crossover. Is it too much to dream of a “Marvel vs. Tatsunoko vs. Capcom”?
Yeah, probably.
That said, the rest of the list is filled with some solid stuff, so be sure to watch it all the way through!
