Super Beard Bros. Take On Mega Man X and Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X

Recently, Jirard “The Completionist” Khalil decided to go back to where it all began for him. Alongside his Super Beard Bro Alex, putting together a five-part Let’s Play of the original Mega Man X. Warning for Not Safe For Work language:

Even more recently, the duo began a Let’s Play of Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X as an April Fool’s joke, which managed to spin out into a full blown series of episodes itself, because why wouldn’t you want to see a game like that through to the end? Again, Not Safe For Work language is used liberally throughout:

Part 2 is here, and it’s currently ongoing. If you’ve never played the game before — and let’s face it, even among Mega Man fans, those odds are pretty decent, given the relatively limited release it’s had and the platforms it was playable on — then this is a good way to see what you might have missed out on.

Heck, I have the game and the PlayStation Portable, but haven’t really played it in years. Even I’ve forgotten some of the changes that had been made!

Of particular interest to me personally, however, is that this is the first time I’ve seen this game played on a television before (watching the videos on my own TV through my PlayStation 4). Not only has it reignited my regret at not being able to find a PlayStation TV on the cheap around here when they began to get cleared out, but it really brings to mind that this game (and its Classic sibling, Mega Man Powered Up) is still hugely deserving of a proper console release, perhaps with some higher resolution or even slightly higher-polygon models.

Other publishers, including the likes of Rockstar and even Sony themselves, brought some of their PSP titles to a wider audience with releases on the PlayStation 2 and 3, but sadly, Capcom never did the same for some of their early output for the system including these titles and Ultimate Ghosts ‘n Goblins. It’s a real shame that with the PlayStation Vita now phased out, these great games run the risk of being doomed to obscurity.

Now I know that everyone wants a new Mega Man game, but with that aside, I’m sure many of you would like to see these games re-released (and possibly updated) on more contemporary hardware, right?
