Eurogamer Looks at Mighty No. 9 Then and Now
Mighty No. 9 has been in development for the better part of the last three years, and things have come quite a way from the initialconcept shots (one of which is seen at right) which sold many people on the idea of a spiritual successor to the Mega Man franchise by one of the main men responsible for so much of its longevity.
During that early period, an “initial evaluation test” of Unreal Engine 3 was put together in order to give everyone a taste of what was to come. Only seven days of work had gone into it, and with the final game now available, Eurogamer (via MCV) has decided to look back and compare the two side-by-side:
They go on to highlight the caption from the Kickstarter page, which states “Someday we will look back on this and laugh at how primitive it looks, but for now, for only one week of test work, it’s pretty darn cool, don’t ya think? :D”
It certainly was, and for many, it actually manages to outshine the look of the final product. But what do you think? Was the initial “placeholder” version what you would rather be playing, or do you like the final version more? Sound off in the comments below!
