Red Ash is One of USgamer’s Wishes Come True for 2015

For many video game fans, 2015 was a year of wishes coming true. This chiefly took place in the form of various announcements, such as Igarashi’s return to a Castlevania: Symphony of the Night-esque adventure in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, Sony confirming that The Last Guardian is still in development, and that Final Fantasy VII Remake and Shenmue 3 are finally happening. USgamer looks at all of these here, with one other item rounding out the list — almost surprisingly so.

Comcept’s Mega Man Legends-ish Red Ash: The Indelible Legend caps things off, and why not? At this point, Mega Man Legends 3 is once again but a fantasy, so having many of those responsible for that series being what it was are on board once again, so there should be no question about its inclusion, right?

Yet, as those of you reading are no doubt well aware, it’s not quite that simple. The game has received all sorts of backlash for myriad reasons, from being a little too “on the nose” to a Kickstarter going up before the company’s last Kickstarter project, Mighty No. 9, had even been released, on down to the fact that there was even a Kickstarter at all, and even the fact that the company sought out separate funding and moved the goalposts before the campaign had even finished.

But hey, that was almost five months ago. The turmoil that swept through the month of July is over and the dust has settled, with us now knowing that Red Ash is what it is: an anime-styled adventure game in the style of Mega Man Legends (with more than a few not-too subtle influences) that is being backed by FUZE Entertainment.

I gave my thoughts on it when everything first happened, and now — just as then — I’m still kind of looking forward to what may result, fingers crossed and hoping that it will turn out well.
