Capcom Unity’s Summer Robot Master Reading List
Mega Man Legacy Collection is coming soon-ish, and in the days and weeks leading up to its release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (with Nintendo 3DS coming later, of course), Capcom Unity is counting down the days* by looking back at the plethora of Robot Masters who occupy this collection.
Each day’s entry will look at one Robot Master, with comments from folks in Capcom’s Japan home office — and members of the community as well. What’s more, I can say I’m honored to have been asked to give my input for three of the Robot Masters across the countdown, including today’s inaugural entry: DLN-003, Cut Man! Particularly as it places me in the same company as Rockman Unity administrator Takekuni Uchida, Mega Man 7 programmer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya, and Mega Man 1 and 2 programmer H.M.D. (wait, is he the one Viewtiful Joe’s t-shirt is referencing?).
For those wondering, though, this list only features Robot Masters from the first six games — my immediate reaction to being asked was if I could include Turbo Man and Nitro Man. Alas, maybe for another collection.
One thing to keep in mind as my picks are revealed over the coming weeks, though, as noted in this part that was cut for space (as I do admittedly tend to go on):
Ah, but we have to keep this to the first six games, right? That makes things a little trickier. Not impossible, but trickier, considering not only how many great characters there are, but also how they’ve been expanded upon in other media, such as Archie’s Mega Man comic book.
Anyway, you can check out Cut Man’s entry here, and keep checking back for more as they come!
* Give or take; I’m not sure whether this is designed to end the day the game comes out or not.
