Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS Now Available in North America and Europe

If you’re interested in Super Smash Bros. at all, then you probably already know this, but just in case: Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is now available in North America and Europe, in both retail form and through the Nintendo eShop. Australia, meanwhile, will see its release on October 4th.

As for the Wii U version? That’s still hanging with just a “Q4 2014” release date for now.

Naturally, the reason we’re covering this here is because Mega Man is a playable character who is available from the start. With him comes an Elec Man Assist Trophy and a daytime version of the Dr. Wily castle stage from Mega Man 2, complete with a Yellow Devil stage hazard.

If you’re not yet familiar with how Mega Man plays and would like to see some idea of it, Vhyper1985 has passed along a couple of gameplay videos of the previously-released Japanese version by “one of the more popular players in the fighting game community” (in quotes because I would honestly not know), Maximilian Dood, aka Miles923/YOVideogames on YouTube.

Here is some footage of Mega Man in online competition; note that the language is Not Safe For Work (NSFW).

In another video, he goes after the boss of the game as Mega Man on a Level 9 difficulty (and others in practice runs), pointing out that if one dies in the attempt, the difficulty level automatically decreases, making it something of a do-or-don’t sort of deal. You can find that here, which I’ve chosen not to embed for the sake of those worried about spoilers (it’s too bad, the custom art for the thumbnail is pretty neat).

On his Facebook, he took time to say “Don’t care how good or bad Mega-Man is in Smash4. I’m never dropping this character. It’s not about winning, it’s about sending a message! /joker”
