Mega Man on the 3DO… Almost

Have you ever heard of the Panasonic 3DO?

No?

I really haven’t, either; it’s one of “those consoles” that I don’t really know anything about, falling in the same category as the Atari Jaguar and the Phillips CD-i. Because of that, I can’t really tell you anything about the specifications of the system or the games on it.

But what I can tell you now is that there was almost a Mega Man game for it. Mega Man X3, to be exact.

Thanks to a 3DO ZERO forum user, I can now say with certainty that an X3 port was in the works, even though it was never released. It appears that it would have been a straight port from the PlayStation/Saturn version, complete with anime cutscenes. Besides that, the only other thing I can say from the scans is that X is trying his danged hardest to do a Hadouken with only one hand.

Silly X. Everyone knows you need two hands to do a Hadouken. Just ask Ryu.
