Hideki Kamiya Wants to Make Mega Man
The name “Hideki Kamiya” might be familiar to some of you, particularly if you’re a fan of such video game franchises as Capcom’s Viewtiful Joe, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, and Okami, not to mention Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth. Outside of Capcom, his efforts can be seen in the story and direction of Bayonetta, developed by Platinum Games and published by SEGA.
Kamiya has recently expressed interest in being “forced” to create a Star Fox game for Nintendo– at gunpoint, no less– and it seems he has revealed a similar interest in Mega Man, though no firearms seem to have been mentioned.
The subject came up on his Twitter account, during a conversation with Capcom’s Shu Takumi. Therein, Kamiya recalled his high school days, during which he submitted two Robot Masters to one of Capcom’s many design contests. His creations were titled “Planet Man” and “Aqua Man,” and though Mega Man 8 would feature a Robot Master bearing the latter name, it seems that it was not of his creation.
Andriasang has a little more information from the conversation, including an overview of his voice acting in some of the above-mentioned Capcom titles on which he worked.
With that, we are left to wonder whether or not Capcom would ever take Kamiya up on the proposal. And if so, what kind of Mega Man would he make? A sequel to an existing game? Or something new altogether?
