Mega Man Marathon

If you’re familiar with the recent Mario and Zelda marathons, then you already have a good idea of what this is about.
For those unfamiliar, here’s the lowdown: The ladies and gents hosting this marathon will be playing through ten Mega Man games (Mega Man 1-7, and X1-3) beginning tomorrow, July 11th at 9pm EST until July 13th. Watching speedrunners on the SpeedDemos archive clocked in at about 10 hours, or about an hour per game, but they expect theirs to last over two to three times that long. Should they finish early, then they may look into moving into the 32-bit era of Mega Man.

The goal is to raise donations to give to Penny Arcade’s Child’s Play charity, which helps improve the lives of kids in hospitals around the world. One of the past efforts mentioned was able to raise $11,000– even with the economy being what it is, that’s nothing to sneeze at!

As of this writing, there have only been two contributions thus far, putting in $30 towards what appears to be a hopeful $5,000 goal. If you’re interested in further details, want to ask a question, or just would just like to watch the proceedings, then check out their website.

And from those of us here at The Mega Man Network, we wish them the best of luck in reaching their goal for a worthy cause.

Thanks to Kanuck for the tip!
