Mega Man Gets Equipped with World Record

According to the Capcom-Unity blog, the Mega Man franchise has marked its place in the 2008 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records as having the most games in one series. ‘Course, this could be taken as an accomplishment or perhaps as a discouragement, depending on how you want to look at it. Furthermore, while the record itself cites 46 titles, the number goes well over 100 if you also consider multiple versions, multiple console releases and re-releases. I tried tabulating the games myself, though I wouldn’t be surprised if I still missed something.
I’d say chances are good that Mega Man will hold this record for years to come. Even if the series is something of a cash cow, congratulations Mega Man.
